The UEFA EURO 2024 final will be held at Berlin’s Olympiastadion on Sunday, July 14, featuring a showdown between Spain and England.
Spain has advanced to the final after a 2-1 victory over France in Munich. With previous championship wins in 1964, 2008, and 2012, they have the opportunity to become the first team to secure four titles. This marks their fifth appearance in a EURO final, with their only loss occurring against France in the 1984 tournament.
England earned their spot in the final by defeating the Netherlands 2-1 in Dortmund. Under the leadership of Gareth Southgate, the team is striving to win their first EURO championship. They previously reached the final in EURO 2020, where they finished as runners-up after a penalty shootout loss to Italy at Wembley Stadium – their debut final appearance in the competition.
Germany and Spain are the most successful sides in the history of the UEFA European Championship, winning three editions each. Germany have featured in six finals in total, while Spain are appearing in their fifth at EURO 2024.
No player has scored more than twice in a EURO final, with Fernando Torres (Spain, 2008 and 2012) holding the unique distinction of having scored in two separate deciders. Berti Vogts (West Germany 1972, Germany 1996), meanwhile, is unique in having won the EURO as a player and a coach, having been a non-playing squad member in that 1972 final.
